Film Previsualization: Storyboard

Writer's picture: Natasha NambiarNatasha Nambiar

The next task was to create a storyboard. A storyboard is a series of pictures or images drawn on a piece of paper in a number of square boxes. The director's vision is portrayed even more clearly through storyboarding, and the film crew understands it better. It also aids the film crew in planning and viewing the camera movement or method they will employ. The storyboard can be drawn on paper or digitally. Many illustrators nowadays draw digitally since their work is later transformed into a film. Making the illustrations into a movie allows the director and crew to determine the length of the film and whether it contains all the filmmaker had envisioned.

Mr. Affendi had shared us a youtube video about how to draw a storyboard. We watched "How to draw A-grade storyboard (even if you can't draw by The Media Insider and "What is a storyboard?" by ACMI. We were able to understand how it looks like and start the storyboard.

The image above is my storyboard. I am not the best at drawing but I tried my best to draw my imagination of the story "Aku Sepasang Kasut". The two videos that was shared really helped me a lot for this task especially the video by The Media Insider.
